A BIT OF BACKGROUND

Hi! My name is Mia (Makiko) Nakajima, and I am the owner and breeder of Dolce Chihuahuas and Blue Muffin Cattery, located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Chihuahuas have been always my love! Their loving and cuddly presence has always brought me so much joy and that is something I never want to live without. I strive to produce loving and healthy AKC chihuahuas and CFA Exotic & Himalayan kittens. I feed raw diet to all my Chihuahuas, including puppies starting at 4 weeks old. Our chihuahua parents come from AKC champions, Thailand Champions, European Champions as well as Japanese champions of top pedigrees. Our Exotic and Himalayan Parents also come from top CFA Champion bloodlines from Canada, Russia and Spain. Our puppies and kittens are hand-raised, pre-spoiled, and live with us inside of our home and as dearly loved as family members. They are well socialized from their birth and used to many different kinds of sounds, including piano and violin! My children Noelle and Noah are my co-pilots in taking care of our dogs and other various tasks.

I have been showing many dogs in AKC show rings, starting with sponsoring Bramver’s Orihime (AKC Champion 2021, Westminster Champion 2021, 2022), and my kennel proudly holds many AKC champions. I partner with several renowned dog handlers and one of them is Ms. Runchana Dolly Deview.

I was born and raised in Japan, but I came to the US to study at UC Berkeley in 1997. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA degree in Linguistics in 2001, and I have worked as a Japanese translator and language manager for many years at software companies. Now I am a mother of 3 beautiful children and decided to go into Chihuahua breeding to live out my love and passion for Chihuahuas!

Lastly, I want to thank my amazing and wonderful mentors and collaborators. I want to thank Runchana Dolly Deview, who has been teaching me the ins and outs of dog shows, guiding me, and teaching me the many aspects of Chihuahua breed and its showing. I also want to thank Minky from Bann Icon Chi for entrusting me with their beautiful chihuahuas and for their on going support and friendship.
